Celebrating Father's Day

6/17/2019

On June 16th, Ellis Bird Farm enjoyed a fantastic day of activities celebrating Father's Day. Special thanks to Linette Miller from the Lacombe branch of TD Bank, for being on hand while we recognized the contribution from the TD Friends of the Environment Fund. This donation, along with funding from Quinn Contracting, enabled us to create our Nature Discovery Packs. These Packs are now available in the Visitor Centre to lend out to families while they are onsite. The TDFEF donation also made possible our new addition: the Nature Playhouse built by Wayne Froese of Top Peg Timber Frames. This whimsical new structure is built from recycled wood material that Wayne has fashioned into a playhouse with doors, windows and hidey-holes for kids to discover nature. Our own EBF staff facilitated visitors in building toad and salamander houses and the Alberta Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy were of great assistance teaching visitors about our amphibian, reptile and insect species down at the waterfront. What a wonderful busy day it was!
