Opening Rain PDF Print E-mail

Did you know that an inch of rain over one acre of ground weighs approximately 113 tons? (Sorry, I’m not going to convert that to metric). And we got a lot more than an inch on Monday!

‘Twas a wet, wet opening day. Unfortunately, Little E, Husband and I managed only to make it out at the end of the day, after the grand opening of theWetland Center and the majority of the festivities took place. We came in our rubber boots and raincoats and with an umbrella in tow.

Soggy though it certainly was, the birds were singing cheerfully and the flowers are happily basking in the moisture.

After we wandered around, checking out the owl display in the Wetland Center and taking some photographs, we headed into the teahouse just before it closed. The cold and damp just made us appreciate our hot tea and cookies the more.

Here’s hoping for sunny days to follow all this moisture!
